January 17, 2018 – It’s a cold winter day as Indiana Southern Railroad’s 3371 and 3388 makes the turn heading back out of the coal loop at Peabody’s Somerville Central Mine in Somerville, Indiana. The train was about halfway loaded when the mine developed a problem with its belt-line and the train had to slow from a craw to a dead stop while it was repaired.
January 17, 2018 – A early morning Paducah and Louisville Railway loaded coal train heads south through the snow covered cut at Charleston, Ky as it heads for the loadout at Calvert City, Ky.
December 26, 2017 – Norfolk Southern’s Bar Heritage Unit 1111, starts downgrade at East Douglas, out of the yard at Princeton, Indiana, headed to pickup another load of coal at the Francisco Mine in Francisco, IN.
December 29, 2017 – Evansville Western Railway 4519 leads a loaded coal train south across the Big Creek bridge, north of Mount Vernon, Indiana, as it heads to the Mount Vernon Transfer Terminal.
October 10, 2017 – Union Pacific 2715 leads CSX N052, a loaded coal train, past a CSX maintenance of way train off loading in the siding at Crofton, Ky, as it heads south on the Henderson Subdivision.
August 4, 2017 – CSX Q647 (Chicago, IL (BRC)-Waycross, GA) heads south across Trident on the Henderson Subdivision, as empty coal train N013, (Warrior Coal-Palatka, FL) waits to cross over onto the Morganfield Branch at Madisonville, Ky on its way to Warrior Coal.
July 19, 2017 – Norfolk Southern 8160 leads northbound train through Paducah and Louisville’s West Yard at Madisonville, Ky with a freshly loaded coal train from Warrior Coal and a Kansas City Southern unit trailing.
May 29, 2017 – CSX loaded coal drag N050, with UP power, heads south out of Sebree, Ky as it heads south on the Henderson Subdivision bound for Duke Energy’s Crystal River Energy Complex via Fitzgerald, GA.
May 29, 2017 – A loaded CSX coal train with CSXT 5346 leading, passes CSX local J724, at the Henderson Depot in Henderson, Ky, as it heads south on the Henderson Subdivision.
May 29, 2017 – On this beautiful spring day, empty northbound coal train, CSX E050 (Rose Lake, IL – Red Level, FL) meets its loaded counterpart, southbound loaded N050 (Red Level, FL – Rose Lake, IL) at the south end of the siding at Slaughters, Ky on the Henderson Subdivision.
May 30, 2017 – The bugs of the night are drawn to the headlights of a loaded BNSF coal train as it arrives late in the evening light at the loadout in Calvert City, Ky with engine 5900 leading the way.
