April 6, 2018 – Day 157 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Elaina Cat – My Elaina Cat caught squeaker!!! My niece Elaina loves cats and has earned my pet name for her which is Elaina Cat! This afternoon she walks into my office with her toy rat, yes toy rat as she really loves most all animals. I asked if I could take a picture of her and “Squeaker” and this is what she did!!!
April 5, 2018 – Day 156 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Markers – Well it’s been almost a year since my brother Davie passed from this world to the next and we’ve finally got his estate settled and today his and our brother Eddie’s markers were placed over their ashes. Both served in the Army during Viet Nam. Proud of them both and glad the winter weather has passed enough that we could get the markers placed next to our parents. Photograph life, sad and happy!
April 3, 2018 – Day 154 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Perspective – Damion and Elaina share some quality time together as they play on their tablets for a little while this afternoon. Look for different perspectives when shooting pictures! They will help add impact to your photos and be a lot more interesting!
March 15, 2018 – Day 136 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – The Car – Today I found another car for my machine series! It’s seen much better days and has been setting in this empty lot in Guthrie, Ky for some time now. Find something you enjoy photographing and turn it into a personal series project. You’ll be a better photographer for it!
March 14, 2018 – Day 135 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Jordan and the Mask – Well, as I was editing and posting my mask picture yesterday my nephew Jordan came for a visit and the first thing he did was mimic the mask! Of course, it had to be today’s picture! Kids and their reactions always make for good pictures! Be aware of them and keep your camera close by for those moments!
March 11, 2018 – Day 132 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – The Mask – Today I found this mask on the wall of the restaurant where members of the West Kentucky Photography met for lunch. I like the starkness of the mask against the plain wall. Not much question what the subject of the photo is here! Keeping your picture as simple as possible will go a long way and help make a stronger picture! A mentor in my life passed on this bit of wisdom to me long ago, If it doesn’t contribute to your photo, then eliminate it by changing your angle, lens or whatever it takes to make the picture strong as possible when you shoot the photo, not later in the darkroom or computer.
March 11, 2018 – Day 132 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Tablet Time – My niece Elaina deep in thought as she spends a little time on her tablet this afternoon. Getting low or taking a different perspective on the subject of your photograph can go a long way to helping make your picture stronger!
March 11, 2018 – Day 132 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Upset – Today’s photo is of my nephew Jayden in a less than happy mood, which lasted all of about 30 seconds, when something didn’t quite go his way! As hard as it may be emotionally sometimes, photograph all the emotions in your family’s life, not just the smiles! That is life!
March 10, 2018 – Day 131 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Industrial Landscape – I spent most of today railfanning (taking pictures of trains) in southern Indiana and Illinois. This scene is of the Norfolk Southern railway yards from an overpass in Princeton, Indiana. Good leading lines can help draw your viewer into your picture!
March 8, 2018 – Day 129 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Shadows – Who isn’t intrigued by shadows?? Today I took my nephew Jayden to the park after school and shot this photo of his and my shadows being “Zombies,” according to him! Shooting with your smart phone can be a lot easier than your digital SLR, as it’s smaller, lighter and in many ways easier to use. Just learn it’s limitations by shooting! Then put it away and play “monster” chase around the playground!!!
March 7, 2018 – Day 128 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Pulling Teeth – While waiting in line at school to pick up my nephew Jayden today, this quip comes from my niece Elaina in the backseat, which resulted in today’s picture!
Elaina: It’s not fun to have your teeth pulled, unless you’re the doctor!
You can turn almost any situation into and interesting picture, if you keep your mind’s eye open!!
March 6, 2018 – Day 127 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – By the sea – Well, kind of! Today I met some of the fine folks from our local photography club at Captain D’s for lunch and grabbed another “lamp” photo. I guess this is going to be another series as I seem to always find a lamp photo of some type when we meet for lunch!
March 5, 2018 – Day 124 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Bad Hair Day and Cookie Monster – I really think my niece Elaina is enjoying her chocolate chip cookie from Subway! When photographing kids in your life you don’t have to limit it to when they’re all dressed up and looking prim and proper! Show the messy side of their lives as well, that’s what life is all about sometimes!
March 4, 2018 – Day 123 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Reflections – Photographing your little ones as they perform everyday tasks will make for wonderful memories down the road! The simple act of Jayden washing his hands made for a bit stronger photograph by including his reflection in the mirror. Always look for ways to make your photo stronger!
March 3, 2018 – Day 123 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Peeps All in a row – Easter is upon us and today I spotted this self of chicks loaded with plastic Easter eggs all lined up in a row! Finding patterns and things that repeat themselves can make for interesting shots! Keep your eyes open to the world around you!
