April 19, 2018 – Day 171 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Flagpole – There’s never a dull moment with the little ones in our family! Elaina came into my office to show me her flag and so I asked her if I could take a picture and this is the result!!! LOL Some days are like this and you always need to be ready to capture the moment with the little ones in your life!
April 18, 2018 – Day 170 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Karaoke – Elaina loves the Elsa Karaoke machine that her mamaw bought her, even when drinking her chocolate milk! Now she goes around singing all the time! Perhaps a star in the making?
April 16, 2018 – Day 169 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Glasses – Elaina commandeered my reading glasses today during lunch, which always makes for a cute picture in my book!
April 10, 2018 – Day 162 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Ta Da!! – My niece Elaina definitely has her own style! Today during lunch with several members of our local photography club she was being herself as we were waiting for the check to come when she kept jumping out from behind my chair and doing this Ta Da! I had been trying all morning to get her to stand and let me get a good shot of her and her outfit and it just wasn’t happening! Sometimes it happens like that. You’ve just got to be patient and let the picture happen. This was way better than if she had just stood for me to take the picture when I asked earlier! I’d make the “Punky Brewster” reference here, but most younger photographers probably wouldn’t know who Im talking about! LOL
April 9, 2018 – Day 161 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Airborne! – My nephew Damion does a jump during his Little Warriors Karate Class as some of his classmates take their own stances as if it’ll give him a little extra help! Indoors and low light can make shooting action difficult when using your iPhone. Best thing I’ve found is to use the burst mode and try to catch the peak action. Either way, any picture is better than none! Shoot!!!
April 8, 2018 – Day 160 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Kids will be kids – My nephew Jordan makes one of his classic faces Sunday as we were getting ready to leave church. Sometimes it’s best to let kids be kids when you’re shooting their picture! Can make for some fun, memorable and great picture times!
April 7, 2018 – Day 158 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Lamp Light – Stopped by Fazoli’s for lunch today and found this light against a black background which I think makes for a nice photo! Keeping your pictures simple and easy to read will help make them stronger!
April 6, 2018 – Day 157 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Elaina Cat – My Elaina Cat caught squeaker!!! My niece Elaina loves cats and has earned my pet name for her which is Elaina Cat! This afternoon she walks into my office with her toy rat, yes toy rat as she really loves most all animals. I asked if I could take a picture of her and “Squeaker” and this is what she did!!!
April 5, 2018 – Day 156 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Markers – Well it’s been almost a year since my brother Davie passed from this world to the next and we’ve finally got his estate settled and today his and our brother Eddie’s markers were placed over their ashes. Both served in the Army during Viet Nam. Proud of them both and glad the winter weather has passed enough that we could get the markers placed next to our parents. Photograph life, sad and happy!
April 4, 2018 – Day 155 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Wolfie is found!!! – After several months of being lost Damion’s sister Elaina found his favorite stuffed toy called “Wolfie.” It was under their dunk bed here at the house and we now have a very happy Damion!!!
April 3, 2018 – Day 154 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Perspective – Damion and Elaina share some quality time together as they play on their tablets for a little while this afternoon. Look for different perspectives when shooting pictures! They will help add impact to your photos and be a lot more interesting!
April 1, 2018 – Day 152 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Bonding – Jordan and his uncle Justin take funny selfies together, using the SnapChat app on Justin’s iPhone. Of course I couldn’t resist snapping my own photo of them having fun together!
March 16, 2018 – Day 137 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Buddy – Damion introduces his newest dog “Buddy” to his mom after karate practice this afternoon. He picked him out of the “Treasure Box” today at kindergarten after having a great day at school!
March 15, 2018 – Day 136 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – The Car – Today I found another car for my machine series! It’s seen much better days and has been setting in this empty lot in Guthrie, Ky for some time now. Find something you enjoy photographing and turn it into a personal series project. You’ll be a better photographer for it!
March 14, 2018 – Day 135 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Jordan and the Mask – Well, as I was editing and posting my mask picture yesterday my nephew Jordan came for a visit and the first thing he did was mimic the mask! Of course, it had to be today’s picture! Kids and their reactions always make for good pictures! Be aware of them and keep your camera close by for those moments!
March 11, 2018 – Day 132 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – The Mask – Today I found this mask on the wall of the restaurant where members of the West Kentucky Photography met for lunch. I like the starkness of the mask against the plain wall. Not much question what the subject of the photo is here! Keeping your picture as simple as possible will go a long way and help make a stronger picture! A mentor in my life passed on this bit of wisdom to me long ago, If it doesn’t contribute to your photo, then eliminate it by changing your angle, lens or whatever it takes to make the picture strong as possible when you shoot the photo, not later in the darkroom or computer.
March 11, 2018 – Day 132 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Tablet Time – My niece Elaina deep in thought as she spends a little time on her tablet this afternoon. Getting low or taking a different perspective on the subject of your photograph can go a long way to helping make your picture stronger!
March 11, 2018 – Day 132 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Upset – Today’s photo is of my nephew Jayden in a less than happy mood, which lasted all of about 30 seconds, when something didn’t quite go his way! As hard as it may be emotionally sometimes, photograph all the emotions in your family’s life, not just the smiles! That is life!
March 10, 2018 – Norfolk Southern Railway’s NS 168 moves by West Douglas as it works on doing a pick-up at the Yard in Princeton, Indiana before proceeding on east with a short 1,500 foot train, with NS 8156 and BNSF Warbonnet, 737 as power.
