December 29, 2017 – Day 60 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Days gone by

December 29, 2017 – Day 60 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Days gone by – Today’s photo is of the end of an old CN baggage car that had been converted into a camp car for crews. Got it today during a visit to the Mid-America Locomotive & Car Repair, Inc. Evansville, IN with fellow railfan Ryan Scott, who knows the folks there.

December 28, 2017 – Day 59 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Making Memories and photos

December 28, 2017 – Day 59 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Making Memories and photos – Today Damion and I spent some time building him a Secret Agent Power Watch!! Of course, it had to have a Laser Canon, Lasers and guns attached! One thing about making memories with your little ones is that usually there’s a picture to be had during or at the end of the process!

December 27, 2017 – Day 58 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – New Duds

December 27, 2017 – Day 58 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Damion and his new duds – My nephew shows off some of his new duds he got for Christmas. When photographing kids sometimes it works better if you ask them to take pictures of something they’re wearing, doing, playing with, ect, rather of say I want to take a picture of you. They enjoy having photos taken of their prized possessions. Also, don’t just take a picture and leave it on your phone. Get your favorites printed out and share them with the kids. All mine love having pictures they can hold, put in their photo books or hang on the wall of their room.

December 26, 2017 – Day 57 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Merry Christmas Bear

December 26, 2017 – Day 57 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Merry Christmas Bear – I turned around for this one! Driving down a country road today in Evansville, Indiana I spotted this stuffed bear hanging from a post that had a sign above it that says Merry Christmas. The red letters don’t show up the best in black and white, but I like the shot anyway!

iPhone Black and White Challenge Photos December 16-25, 2017

December 16, 2017 – Day 47 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Xavier – When photographing children, including some of their favorite toys can make for a better photo, plus a nice memory in years to come!

December 17, 2017 – Day 48 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Elaina’s Eyes – The eyes can make the picture!! When photographing a portrait or closeup of someone, always do you best to make the eyes sharp!!

December 18, 2017 – Day 49 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Looking Up – A different viewpoint can help make a more interesting photograph, as with this shot of my nephew Damion looking up from the chair he was hiding behind.

December 19, 2017 – Day 50 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Elvis – Well, in this instance he hasn’t left the building! LOL This fiberglass figure of the king was shot in one of our local eating establishments. Keep an eye out for interesting photos no matter where you’re at, when you have your iPhone with you!

December 20, 2017 – Day 51 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Crossing – Anyone that knows me, understands that I photograph a lot of trains!!! Here I’m waiting for the train that is way down the end of the tracks. Look closely and you can see the headlight! Have a passion in your life? If so, photograph it!!

December 21, 2017 – Day 52 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Little House – When you’re out driving around keep an eye out for interesting things you think might make a good picture. The little shack in the middle of sea oats provided me with just that!

December 22, 2017 – Day 53 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Fan – This is what happens when you spend the day inside and remember when you lay down to go to bed that you haven’t shot your picture for the day! Pictures are all around you! You just need to see them!

December 23, 2017 – Day 54 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Hay Bale – Found this hay bale in a field that was overgrown with new hay and liked the textures of how it looked in the late evening. Don’t be afraid to shoot photos with your smart phone after the sun has set! It may take a little more patience, but the rewards can be worth it.

December 24, 2017 – Day 55 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Making Memories – Christmas Eve the family and kids gathered at my niece Jeanne’s home, as we do most years. Her husband had his O Scale train setup, so the kids could run it around the tree and as you can see from Xavier’s expression, they all love it! Makes for a pretty good picture as well! Making memories!!

December 25, 2017 – Day 56 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Tabatha – One of my cats, Tabatha, has curled up on my niece Elaina’s bed next to her blankets and stuffed animals. Elaina adores both my cats and Tabatha epically. Seeing scenes like this I often wonder if the cats feel the same way about her and cuddle up next to her things that smell like her.

December 15, 2017 – Day 46 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Help!!

December 15, 2017 – Day 46 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Help!! – I’ve passed this bale of hay several times till today I couldn’t stand it anymore and stopped to take the picture! Finding a picture that evokes an emotion can help add impact to your pictures, be it humor, sadness, love or the countless other ways to show emotion.

December 14, 2017 – Day 45 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Patterns

December 14, 2017 – Day 45 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Patterns – Today’s shot is of patterns made by stacked logs outside at a sawmill south of Sebree, Ky. Patterns are another way of adding depth and interest to your photographs! They’re all around us, you just have to pay attention and find a way to incorporate them into your pictures!

December 13, 2017 – Day 44 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Buddy

December 13, 2017 – Day 44 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Buddy – My niece and her husband David are out of town this weekend and we’re watching their dog Buddy. I’ve been in the house all day and hadn’t got my photo for the day. I was looking around for something here at the house that I thought would make an interesting shot when I spotted Buddy sitting outside my sister’s bedroom door watching or protecting her? I was trying to sneak up behind him and you can tell how successful I was!

December 12, 2017 – Day 43 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – The Chair

December 12, 2017 – Day 43 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – The Chair – While waiting this morning to talk to someone at the bank I sat down in a chair in the waiting area and this mirrored chair was across from me and this is the resulting picture. Always keep aware of the simple things around you that can make for a good photograph!

December 11, 2017 – Day 42 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Ballet

December 11, 2017 – Day 42 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Ballet – My niece Elaina is taking ballet and once a month they have an open session where parents and family can watch from the doorway and behind a window. Today was the day and this is my favorite moment of her! This was her poise… no prompting. Of course, I’ve been photographing her since the day she was born so she’s quite used to having her picture taken.

December 7, 2017 – Day 38 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – The “L”

December 7, 2017 – Day 37 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – The “L” – Two Chicago Transit Authority trains meet at the Clark/State Street Station in Downtown Chicago, Illinois. Shooting with a iPhone in large downtown city area with a lot of light can produce some nice photographs. The key is to keep your iPhone steady as if you are shooting with a digital camera, after all that is what it is. #iphone7plus #iphonephotography #jimpearsonphotography

December 6, 2017 – Day 37– iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – All Aboard

December 6, 2017 – Day 36 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – All Aboard – Today’s photo is one of many from my trip to Chicago, Illinois today. I made a point on this trip to challenge myself to do a series of photographs called “My view from Amtrak 360” which I shared a link to here on my Facebook page yesterday, if you’d like to see more from the trip. All were shot with the iPhone 7 Plus. #iphone7plus #iphonephotography #jimpearsonphotography

December 5, 2017 – Day 36 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Where’s the Lampshades?

December 5, 2017 – Day 36 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Where’s the Lampshades? – You never know where you’re going to find an interesting photo!! Tonight, I was wandering around in J.C. Penny’s waiting on my sister when I spotted this display of legs! It screamed black and white to me from across the store and I couldn’t resist. An interesting note is that if I had my Fuji XT-1 or Nikon D800 and tried to shoot this photo from inside a major retailer, I probably would have been stopped. However, with a little ole iPhone, no problem!!! Never mind that many of our newer smart phones are capable these days of shooting photos that are magazine quality!! #iphone7plus

December 4, 2017 – Day 35 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Karate

December 4, 2017 – Day 35 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Karate – My nephew Damion Is into Karate these days and as I sat watching his “Little Warrior’s” practice today I shot this photo with my iPhone 7 Plus Camera of him learning a new kick. To get the shot I wanted I had to use the zoom and if you look closely you can see the quality isn’t the greatest. I realize the iPhone 7 has a dual lens, but if you zoom beyond the optical limits of the camera it goes to a digital zoom, which just blows up the pixels, which isn’t nearly as good a quality. However, any picture is better than none!

December 3, 2017 – Day 34 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Jeremiah

December 3, 2017 – Day 34 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Jeremiah – My nephew Jeremiah has one of the most expressive faces!! That, along with the nice lighting on his face helped make this one of my favorite portraits I’ve shot of him so far! When photographing kids, I can’t stress enough that you have to be patient and quick!

December 2, 2017 – Day 33 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Shadows

December 2, 2017 – Day 33 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Shadows – I’ve always been fascinated by shadows! They just seem to be part of another demission in my option!! I wandered downtown to the Christmas Festivities in my hometown of Madisonville, Ky and found this shot at the “Ice” skating rink the city had setup there for the day. It’s not really ice, but a plastic material that has a slick spray coating on it. Either way it was very popular and crowded! I think I had to shoot 20-30 photos before I got one with just shadows and a composition that I liked! Sometime when you find a scene that will make a good photograph, but it’s just lacking that special something, just stand around and wait! There’s a good chance that it will come together! #iphone7plus

December 1, 2017 – Day 32 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Pound Puppy

December 1, 2017 – Day 32 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Pound Puppy – I took my niece Elaina to her mom’s work to wait for her to get off this afternoon and while we were sitting in the RAV4 she kept say, what is that from the backseat. I couldn’t quite tell if she was talking about a game on her tablet or what until she pointed at the window in front of where we were parked and there appeared to be a little “Pound Puppy” sitting looking at the car! Well, I never let a photo opportunity pass by, so we got out, so I could take a picture of it when Elaina stepped in to the scene and looked up at the puppy. Click!!! Black and White picture of the day!! Thanks Elaina! Always be aware of your surroundings that may lend themselves to a picture, and sometimes take a kid along so they can point out things right in front of you! LOL – #iphone7plus

Day 31 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Being Silly

November 30, 2017 – Day 31 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge: Being Silly – My niece Elaina is one of my little shutterbugkids and today she came and asked me if she could shoot pictures, so I give her my iPhone 7 plus. She wandered around the house and front porch photographing two of her favorite subjects, my cats! Eventually she ended up back in my office wanting to shoot a selfie with me. After she got her shots I asked if I could shoot one and started to shoot it thinking it’d be my picture for the day, when she said, wait, I need glasses like you! Wouldn’t that be funny? So, she got another pair of the Dollar Tree readers that I have all over the house and put them on. Of course, to add to the silliness the tongues came out for the picture! When photographing kids it never hurts to take their direction as it can make for interesting photos! LOL If you’d like to see some of her work or that of her brother and cousins pay a visit to http://www.shutterbugkids.org. There’s links there for their Facebook and Instagram accounts, which have their most current photos.
