May 12, 2022 – CSX P001-09 Presidential Office Car passenger train heads north over the Ohio river bridge from Henderson, Ky down the Viaduct into Evansville, Indiana on the Henderson Subdivision with CSXT 1, 2 and 3 leading the way.

CSX Transportation has repainted 3 of its executive fleet F40PH locomotives in a paint scheme inspired by predecessor Baltimore & Ohio and a fleet of cars to finish out the train set. The city of Baltimore chartered the railroad on Feb. 28, 1827, to build west to a suitable point on the Ohio River. Ground was broken on July 4, 1828, at Carrollton, Md. By 1929 the railroad operated 5,658 miles of track and had 2,364 locomotives. In the 1970s the B&O became part of Chessie System and in the 1980s it became part of CSX.

Live Saturday from Jim Pearson Photography from the Princeton, Indiana area

Live Saturday – April 9, 2022 – CSX I025 heads south past the old depot at Princeton, Indiana on the CE&D Subdivision. This location is one of the Virtual Railfan cameras as well. I’ll do a walk around the depot after the train gets by.

This past Saturday I did a day of Live videos from the Princeton, Indiana area including CSX and Norfolk Southern Action. I plan to try and do at least one day a week of live videos from both the air and the ground so be sure to Follow my page on Facebook so you don’t miss any of the live action! You can view many more videos from April 9th, 2022 by visiting my YouTube Channel or Facebook Page!

March 19, 2022 - The crew on eastbound CSX Q374 (Rose Lake, IL (UP) - Avon, IN) freight waits for a signal on the Indianapolis Terminal Subdivision so it can head east from Danville, IN, with Kansas City Southern 4841 and Norfolk Southern 4237 leading the way.

According to worldwiderails.com: Those who are unfamiliar with railroads may not understand why railroads would share locomotives, but there are many good reasons for this long-standing practice. It might seem contradictory for railroads to share locomotives since they’re sometimes in direct competition with each other, but this practice benefits both companies.

Railroads share locomotives in a series of arrangements known as pooled power arrangements. Railroads will share both tracks and locomotives with other railroads to pool resources for increased efficiency.

When a locomotive operates through the territories of multiple railroads without stopping, this locomotive is said to be running on run-through power. In most cases, it is more efficient to leave the locomotive on the track to carry freight for either line than it is to try and pull the locomotive once it hits a territory edge. Trains operate most efficiently when they can remain running.

On March 19th, 2022 CSX E895 with 1776, CSX’s Spirit of our Armed Forces unit sits tied down east of Avon yard at Craft Runner outside of Indianapolis, Indiana on the Indianapolis Terminal Subdivision. This is one of three specialty painted units done by CSXT honoring troops, first responders and Law Enforcement. I had hoped to chase it moving south to Princeton, IN where it will load their train, but it didn’t happen until after dark.

According to the CSXT website: new spirit of service and gratitude is rolling across the CSX rail network in the form of three locomotives that have been repainted and renamed in honor of our nation’s military and first responders.

The one-of-a-kind locomotives — the Spirit of our Armed Forces, the Spirit of our First Responders and the Spirit of our Law Enforcement — are helping promote the CSX Pride in Service program, a signature community investment initiative with a goal of positively impacting 100,000 military service members, veterans, first responders and their families by 2020.

Norfolk Southern Savannah and Atlanta Heritage unit 1065 leads NS 167, as it passes Consolidated Grain and Barge Company at Lyles Station, MP 157, as it heads east on the NS Southern West District at Lyles Station, Indiana on December 3rd, 2021. Catching this unit completes my goal of photographing all 20 of the NS Heritage units out in the “Wild.”

According to the NS Website: Savannah & Atlanta Railway (SR, EMD) began life as the Brinson Railway in 1906, slowly expanding from Savannah toward the Northwest. It was consolidated with other small railroads to become the Savannah & Atlanta in 1917. Central of Georgia bought the S&A in 1951.

According to Wikipedia, Lyles or Lyles Station is an unincorporated community in Patoka Township, Gibson County, Indiana. The community dates from 1849, although its early settlers first arrived in the 1830s, and it was formally named Lyles Station in 1886 to honor Joshua Lyles, a free African American who migrated with his family from Tennessee to Indiana around 1837. Lyles Station is one of Indiana's early black rural settlements and the only one remaining.

The rural settlement reached its peak in the years between 1880 and 1912, when major structures in the community included the railroad depot, a post office, a lumber mill, two general stores, two churches, and a school. By the turn of the twentieth century,

Lyles Station had fifty-five homes, with a population of more than 800 people. The farming community never fully recovered from the Great Flood of 1913, which destroyed much of the town. Most of its residents left for economic reasons, seeking opportunities for higher paying jobs and additional education in larger cities.

By 1997 approximately fifteen families remained at Lyles Station, nearly all of them descended from the original settlers.

According to the Gibson County website: Constructed in 1875 and beautifully restored, the Princeton Depot is the only remaining depot structure in Gibson County. Once housing the C&EI and L&N railways, it was the lifeline of commerce and transportation for the county. Passenger service was discontinued from the depot in late 1960. The terminal has a capacity of 8 million tons per year with existing ground storage. Mt.
