Hoosier Southern engines at Tell City, IN

August 4, 2017 – A railfan trip with good friend Ryan Scott turned up this string of Hoosier Southern units tied to their caboose and some other cars at the end of their trackage at Tell City, Indiana. While we were off to night photography on this outing, I couldn’t pass up a nicely lit shot like this! The units are, 465, 467 and 464, which have been retired from service on their line after the purchase of some newer GP-15-1s.

NS Yard, National Train Day, Princeton, Indiana

May 13, 2017 – A eerie quiet fell in amongst all these steel horses as they sat at the north end of the Norfolk Southern yard at Princeton, Indiana as the last light of dusk fell on National Train Day. I drove from Piqua, Ohio to Princeton, Indiana on this day looking for trains to catch and I saw three moving along the way, all in the distance. That’s the way it goes sometimes! I did catch another shot I’ll post later of a CSX coal train in the loop at Alliance Coal.

April 19, 2017 – Despite it being a hot muggy day, with way too many gnats buzzing around, we found a parade of north bounds making their way up CSX’s CE&D subdivision across the Patoka River box bridge at Patoka, Indiana. Here CSXT 573 heads up CSX Q648-17 (Waycross, GA – Chicago, IL) as it makes it’s way north on the CE&D Subdivision.

April 19, 2017 – Despite it being a hot muggy day, with way too many gnats buzzing around, we found a parade of north bounds making their way up CSX’s CE&D subdivision across the Patoka River box bridge at Patoka, Indiana. Here CSXT 3247 heads up CSX Q592-18 (Nashville, TN – Chicago, IL) as it was train number four in a line of the ones we caught. Traffic has been affected due to CSX MOW do major upgrades along the line with their current maintenance blitz which from what I’m told is scheduled to continue through next week. A big shout out to fellow railfan Ryan Scott for showing me this location!
