NS Yard, National Train Day, Princeton, Indiana

May 13, 2017 – A eerie quiet fell in amongst all these steel horses as they sat at the north end of the Norfolk Southern yard at Princeton, Indiana as the last light of dusk fell on National Train Day. I drove from Piqua, Ohio to Princeton, Indiana on this day looking for trains to catch and I saw three moving along the way, all in the distance. That’s the way it goes sometimes! I did catch another shot I’ll post later of a CSX coal train in the loop at Alliance Coal.

March 25, 2017 – Norfolk Southern 871 tied down at Lyle Siding, Princeton, IN

March 25, 2017 – Great time shooting some night action with fellow railfans Ryan Scott and Dave Kunkle! We caught this empty Norfolk Southern coal train that tied down in Lyle Siding at Princeton, Indiana, waiting on a crew to take it on east on the NS Southern West district. A big shout out to Dave who was gracious enough to be our “grip” last night and use his hat to cover a bothersome light on one of the RR Boxes next to the crossing!

February 23, 2017 – Norfolk Southern, 8099 Southern unit at Princeton, In

February 23, 2017 – Today was a great day of railfanning in southern Indiana! This shot is of Norfolk Southern 8099, the Southern, as it pulls around the loop at Alliance Coal in Princeton, Indiana and it’s one of three Heritage units I caught today. In talking to one of the mine employees I found out that this load of coal that the Southern is carrying is bound for Egypt! Also caught the NS 911 and NS 1072 so watch for photos of them over the next few days!
