August 28, 2015 – I owe Adam Wells and Bill Grady a big shout out for the heads up with today’s picture of Norfolk Southern’s Heritage unit 1069, The Virginian as it heads north across the trestle at Big Clifty, Ky. I almost didn’t give case because as many of you know I broke my left elbow, Monday and had surgery to repair it on Wednesday! I must say it’s amazing how much i find that I use my left, almost as much as my right. I did have to adapt my shooting style as my D800 with the battery grip is Heavy! June 2, 2015 – Thanks to a heads up post by fellow railfan and great photographer Tom Barrows of Evansville, IN, I was able to catch my second Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit today! When we arrived at the overlook to the Sitran Coal Dock and Abengoa ethanol plant at West Franklin, IN, the weather was overcast and it looked like the it was going to be fairly bad, but the sun finally came out just as the train was leaving with Illinois Terminal Heritage Unit 1072 in the lead. The Vectren power plant is in the background of some of the shots.The Illinois Terminal railroad along with many others was bought up by Norfork Southern years ago and NS has repainted about 20 of their engines in the paint schemes of many of those roads.

: June 2, 2015 – SVTX 1912 with Evansville Western Railway’s 4520 trailing, makes it’s way up the Vectren Lead to the Sitran Coal Dock at West Franklin, IN, with a load of coal. In one of the shots you can see the train approaching the Illinois Terminal Heritage Unit 1072, which was getting ready to depart after the 1912 got into the dock’s loop.
