March 10, 2018 – Day 131 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Industrial Landscape – I spent most of today railfanning (taking pictures of trains) in southern Indiana and Illinois. This scene is of the Norfolk Southern railway yards from an overpass in Princeton, Indiana. Good leading lines can help draw your viewer into your picture!
October 1, 2015 – Norfolk Southern’s 9571 heads up the American Association of Private Railway Car Owners passenger train special with AMTRAK engines 156 and 154, as it heads west through Hatfield Junction just east of Oakland City, Indiana. The train left Louisville on the former Southern Railway’s St. Louis line and crossed the Ohio River, traveling through scenic southern Indiana and Illinois arriving at their convention destination in St. Louis, Missouri. – Tech Info: 1/400sec | f/5 | ISO 320 | Lens: Sigma 24-70 @ 32mm with a Nikon D800 shot and processed in RAW.
October 26, 2017 – Norfolk Southern Railroad’s 8772, with long nose forward, heads up a waiting rail train, as Maintenance of Way crews tear out a crossing at the NS/IS diamond at Oakland City, Indiana. Norfolk Southern MOW crews worked several days to replace the diamond and several crossings surrounding around it.
May 13, 2017 – A eerie quiet fell in amongst all these steel horses as they sat at the north end of the Norfolk Southern yard at Princeton, Indiana as the last light of dusk fell on National Train Day. I drove from Piqua, Ohio to Princeton, Indiana on this day looking for trains to catch and I saw three moving along the way, all in the distance. That’s the way it goes sometimes! I did catch another shot I’ll post later of a CSX coal train in the loop at Alliance Coal.
March 25, 2017 – Lights from a signal down the track illuminate NS 871 and it’s trailing engines, as it heads up a empty Norfolk Southern coal train tied down at Lyle Siding in Princeton, Indiana, waiting on a crew to take it on east on the NS Southern West district.
March 25, 2017 – As the last light of day fades from the sky, a loaded Norfolk Southern coal train sits under the loading dock at Alliance Coal in Princeton, Indiana as their crew prepares to take their train east on the NS Southern-East District.
March 25, 2017 – The red light from signals light up the front of NS 871 with an empty Norfolk Southern coal train that tied down in Lyle Siding at Princeton, Indiana, waiting on a crew to take it on east on the NS Southern West district.
February 23, 2017 – Norfolk Southern 1160 and 7507 lead a northbound coal train over the diamond as it heads north through Oakland City, Indiana on the Indiana Southern Railroad, on it’s way to Bear Run Mine for a load of coal.
