July 2, 2015 – A string of mostly CSX 70MACs sit in the south yard at Atkinson in Madisonville, Ky on the Henderson Subdivision, waiting for pickup by Paducah and Louisville Railway. The units are going to either NRE in Paducah or Progress Rail in Mayfield, Ky for rebuilding and modifications. There are 14 units and they are, CSX 4814, 4550, PRLX 3415, LETX 6900, CSX 4548, 4708, 4566, 4573, 4574, 4552, 4509, 4576, 4772 and 4722.

June 29, 2015 – Southbound CSX R515, left, on the Casky #2 track, meets northbound empty grain train (engine 5009) on the Casky # 1 track as a empty coal train (engine 83) coming out of the new Casky Inspection Yard waits for the traffic to clear so it can head on north behind the grain train at Hopkinsville, Ky on the Henderson Subdivision. June 26, 2015 – The one that almost got past me! Union Pacific : UP 1995 Heritage Unit (C&NW) – SD70ACe – Heads north from the La Rue Hills bridge at the Big Muddy River, as it heads toward Gorham, Illinois. I had shot the train coming over the bridge and didn’t notice that this unit was trailing as the last unit. June 26, 2015 – Today I went on a railfanning outing with several other railfan friends to catch trains on UP’s Chester Subdivision in Southern Illinois. This shot from our first stop was my first train of the day. It’s Union Pacific’s engine 7791 leading a southbound intermodal over the La Rue Hills bridge at the Big Muddy River, at MP 94.6, as it heads toward Wolf, Illinois. I think all in all we caught about 25 different trains on our trip so it was a great day. I’ll be posting shots from this trip over the next couple weeks. Hope everyone enjoys!

Afterwards the crew picks up the last of it’s cars before heading south on the Henderson Subdivision. As of 4:30 CST this engine was till setting at the south yard. The train came off CSX’s Morganfield Branch from Clay, Ky and went onto the P&L at East Diamond, where it went on north to Louisville.
